The clergy are very willing to visit and give pastoral care and support in cases of sickness or any special need but can only do so when informed. Please let the clergy know directly if anyone is sick, is going into hospital, is in hospital or has been discharged from hospital. While the parish clergy will visit in hospital, the main provider of pastoral care in hospital is the hospital chaplain. It is important that when completing admission forms in hospital, you state that you are a member of the ‘Church of Ireland’ and not just ‘Protestant’ or ‘Christian’. Please note that the hospital chaplain will not contact the parish clergy unless you ask them and give them specific permission to do so.
